West Elm popped round
The room of doom. The before photo makes this room look ok along with the fact my main man Charlie was still around so he made any room look the nuts. It had been an office, a playroom, a bedroom for six months during one reno, various forms of lounge including what I thought at the time was sunshine yellow but as pre eclampsia set in during my first pregnancy we soon realised it matched my urine. Oh crap. Within the first paragraph I have ruined this. I was trying to pretend I was a fancy pants interior stylist person and not me!
So much furniture and four million cushions that really needed a wash and flooring that went down 19 years ago as a temporary measure. All this glorious space was ever used for was the PS4.
So when I met with West Elm and I told them about my plans for this room in the future they asked if they could help? Ok, let me think about this. Yep I thought about it all the way as I literally ran faster than Usain Bolt to Tottenham Court Road to meet with The Design Crew at West Elm.

Top Secret. The idea for this room is to create a little IGTV chat show. Guests. Chit Chat. Smiles. LIttle bit of this. Little bit of that. INPO. In No Particular Order. I am both excited and petrified but I will just pretend we are filming it for one person so if only one person watches it I can class it as a success!!!
The design process could not have been easier or more wonderful. I walked around the store with the West Elm Design Crew and we chatted about what I liked and disliked. I have no idea how they then created two room designs which were so spot on it was scary. How? I liked everything!?
Every detail is considered. Flooring suggested. Paint colours. I checked with them as I felt they must have got the measurements wrong because the room looked so big. I do not think I need to waffle on. Let me show you. This is actually in my house! This is my room. The rest of the family are allowed in the room as long as they are clean and most certainly no food. Oh and no dogs on the sofa.
No sorry. I can’t stop talking about it. West Elm got everything completely spot on. Now I understand not everyone wants or can afford an entire room design but what I have asked them to do with another room is the same design process but with a view to me purchasing over the next six months. What I also loved is how they worked with items I needed to keep. The blinds had been made (from Ikea curtains) and there was nothing wrong with them so they were staying. They suggested the mirror and fireplace we already had were painted and items that I was pretty non-plus about before I now adore. Painting one wall including foor, frame, mirror, fireplace, skirting and coving in Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue gave the long room some depth and somehow it has also managed to lose the ugly TV a bit. Although I have my eye on the flashy frame Samsung one!
Honestly can you believe this? I asked for an area that will be easy to chat with guests when I take the leap and make the chat show. A desk area so that during study season there are various points around the house the children can escape to. A drinks trolley, obviously. Somewhere to hide all the consoles because I still want this to be a room they use. Like I said, the kids are very welcome in this rrom when they are clean, fed and watered.
The only thing about this room is the rest of my house is ok, it’s just not bloody awesome like this. I mean. Look. Seriously. This is my house!!! In my house!
Like I said though. No dogs on the sofa. Never ever.
