Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of
I want to tell you that Liberty was named after the statue and it was inevitable that I would take her to NYC for her 16th but alas she is named after Libby Kennedy. You have to understand that back in the day (2000/2001) there was not a lot on television and I was on bed rest with pre-eclampsia. Neighbours was basically my life and Libby Kennedy, well she was such a good girl!!!
But lets pretend it is really cool and she was named after the iconic statue. I have been to NYC a few times and when she was little she used to beg me to take her. To be fair the Boo Boo is the kind of child that wants to be around you. All the time. You can’t shake her off. You go for a peaceful bath and she will come in and sit on the toilet and chat. That kind of child! So we used to say to her “When you are 16, we will take you to New York”.
Well the kid grew up in super sonic speed and she didn’t forget so the Boo and I hit NYC.
So this is really just a little photo story of our time in New York. Its best to go and take New York New York – your way. I do have lots of pretty pics of NYC but quite frankly you can google all of that. This was Our Way. Our NYC.
Central Park. I was sure it was the Friends fountain. I was tempted to grab a coloured brolly and jump in. thankfully I didnt because I would have looked a right tit. It isn’t. That apparently is at the Warner Bros ranch (apparently it is a thing!) in LA. All that time I thought they were splashing about in Central Park with their brollies. Turns out Friends is a complete lie people. Who knew?
Back to New York. The Boo Boo really pushed me to be in photos. To pose. I am learning from her! Like @mrsgifletcher said on her fabulous Instastories the kids see us as Mum, Mummy, Mom, Mama. They are not judging us. So we need to stop judging ourselves. My time in NYC would not have been recorded had I not taken part in the #warriorwomanproject – the brainchild of the inspiring beautiful human that is @stylemesunday
I now have literally tonnes of photos of me. Not just selfies. Full length, in all my glory, photos (that sounds like they are nude ones. None of those!).
I am really quite emotional looking at them. With my Boo. In NYC. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Natalie (@stylemesunday) and all the fandabbydosy people who carried me through that #warriorwomenproject. Oh and @adnams whose Copper House Sloe Gin & Prosecco (which I have been informed is a Sloegasm) also carried me that day. It actually nearly floored me but it helped! Five glasses in less than an hour helped a lot. I was nearly ready for nipple tassels. Luckily the sensible (cannot believe I am writing that) Anna @little_flea_kids became Mum and made me drink some water.
Enough about me. Back to NYC.
Oh wait a minute. Its only ME again!!! With all the Insta cliches going on. Leopard Print – double check. Hot Pink – check. Pleated skirt – check. Oh and I had my @mutha_hood Fearless Female tee on obviously! Seriously enough about me. Stop it. The reality of this beautiful shot is a very cold Foo Foo as I am sitting on the air conditioning unit which felt like it was trying to give me a designer vagina.
This is what we are talking about! The Boo Boo in front of the Statue she was named after (just go with me) in her @lisamacario tee. Liberty in front of Liberty in her Liberty tee. It is like we planned it. She actually filled up with tears as the Staten Island Ferry slowly glided by the statue. It was one of those moments that we will have forever.
Well would you look at that! Its only ME again. Seriously you wait 42 years to have your photo taken and then you just can’t stop with the looking into the distance posing shizzle! Oh look – over there. All casual like. Wearing the jumpsuit (that I may have mentioned once or twice) I brought from my instacrush @ericadavies at the most brilliant event @fash_reboot. I think she would be proud of this posing lark!
Oh and I am carrying my baby changing bag from @tibaandmarl. My youngest baby turned 8 years old this weekend. @tibaandmarl is for life not just for babies. That is a new strap line for you right there Tiba & Marl.
Could this shot be any more NYC? Ok we could have waited for a yellow taxi or police car but it was 90 degrees! Cute little playsuit is from @hm. Bloody love this chickadee. I know I am biased but she is so beautiful and all of NYC agreed. The menfolk of America are far more vocal and forthcoming than she has been used to! The first day walking the sidewalks were a little daunting with men strutting beside her and trying to talk to her. To which she would grab my hand and walk faster. I would like to point out I got called a Hot Mama. He may or may not have been homeless but it made my bloody day!!
The view from the @oneworldnyc tower is ridiculously amazing and no crowds!
Finally on my fourth visit I crossed the Brooklyn Bridge where the views are amazing. We walked from Brooklyn to Manhattan where Liberty stumbled upon @iskra (nope I didn’t have a clue either) and then @tanyaburr (I knew her) wandered past. So obviously that little meeting was the BEST THING EVER in her eyes.
There are literally a million photos of our time in NYC. My heart is full to the brim with memories.
Trouble is. We have three other children. The Moo Moo is 2 years 2 months off her 16th so we best get saving again. She fancies the Galapagos Islands or a trip to LA to see one of her best friends. Tommy wants to go to see a Six Nations game in Europe.
Gonna need a bigger piggy bank.
At the moment 8 year old Oscar is asking for a weekend at Legoland. I might just see if I can draw up a binding contract!
My last photo. My Boo.
