5 Reasons You know its Time to Hit the Gym
I wrote this article which was published on We Heart Living in 2014. It got me back into writing and is one of the reasons I started to blog. Hope you still like it. Makes me chuckle anyway and who does not love Abba?? Abba has the answer to everything!
Do you take the seat or do you burst into tears and bolt? It has to be an all time low when you are offered a seat on a bus because someone thinks you are with child. Your muffin top has become more three-tier wedding cake and you now know squeezing yourself into your super stylish Boden Chelsea turn ups this morning was a big mistake. You take the seat even getting into the role by rubbing your tummy (or food baby) but inside you are crying, sobbing, screaming. Time to get back to the gym.
Each morning you admire the beautiful and stylish range of clothes in your wardrobe. These are no longer your clothes. These belong to the old you, the one that went to the gym, stayed fit and healthy and simply glowed. Your wardrobe knows it and laughs in your face every time you open the doors. Filled with negativity simply by opening the wardrobe doors you ride an emotional rollercoaster before you have left the bedroom. All those beautiful clothes longing to be worn, begging you to try harder, to take the stairs, to make a salad. Turn it on its head though and you can gain strength and motivation from those clothes. Make that wardrobe work for you. Get it to encourage you, to tell you to train, work out, run, dance, be active. Time to get back to the gym.
Big is beautiful. You are beautiful. No denying that. Are you healthy? Are you happy? You love the ‘big is beautiful’ tag and if so that is marvelous but if on the other hand you are tired of being the big and bubbly one with “such a pretty face” then perhaps it is time to do something about it? Another friend, well more friend of a friend, has asked you to be bridesmaid……. Bridesmaid? Again? Now no-one is actually saying they want you in the pictures to make themselves look better. No-one is saying that… Time to get to the gym.
I Have A Dream
When you start dreaming of a Stanna Stairlift it really is time to hit the treadmill! When a simple flight of stairs becomes both a mental and physical stumbling block you know this is really time to get back to the gym. Standing at the bottom of a flight of stairs has become like facing Everest and fills you with dread – you need to take action. As you reach the summit the air feels like it is thinning and breathing without sounding like you smoke 20 a day is an issue. This really is time to get back to the gym.
Knowing Me, Knowing You
You do know when you are ready to get back to the gym. You just know when you have got to that point. No-one else but you can get you there. When you are ready to take on the challenge of getting fit you just know. No-one stumbles into a gym like you find a bar on a night out. The time comes when you start to believe. Believe in yourself. The time when you start to think about what you are eating and trying to get a little more active. We know it is not rocket science. Such a simple equation but so difficult to grasp.
Eat less +move more = fabulous.
You also know how wonderful you will feel once you have taken that class or hit the gym or even gone for a little jog around the block. It really is time to get back to the gym.
Enjoy it. Look good. Smile. You are going to be fabulous.
